Ten Tips to Save on Florist or Flower Costs
copyright Rachel Sanfordlyn Shreckengast of WedFrugal.com
1. Consider silk (lasts forever, sometimes cheaper). Remember that few (if any) people will see your flowers closely.
2. Consider doing the flower arrangements yourself.
3. Comparison shop (good advice for any wedding frugality subject!).
4. Interview and check references.
5. Get a contract (read caterer tips for further details)
6. See if you have a relative that can do the flowers.
7. Use flowers that are in season, rather than flowers that have to be imported (see the end of this article for a good source).
8. Use wild flowers that grow locally.
9. Consider simple elegance rather than opulence. Simplicity almost always costs less than opulence.
10. Consider using lots of greens or filler with bright flowers. The greens/filler costs less.
